Today kicks off the 2011 Hemingway Days in Key West. The week will be full of gatherings the likes of a Marlin Tournament, short story competition, Hemingway look-alike contest, a most extraordinary running of the bulls, and more.
It’s sure to be some good times.
Of course, if you simply can’t make it this year, you can always pour yourself a Hemingway Daiquiri and lounge in the great outdoors while reading A Farewell to Arms.

Literature purists, brace yourselves: The Edinburgh International Book Festival will have a hint of the dramatic this August, as it partners with the film festival. Oh yes, it's true–the two festivals are working on a jointjoint project aimed at exploring various techniques used by writers and film-makers in crafting biographies. It will be headed by Norman Fo
ster and Margaret Atwood.
Interesting, non?!
And even if film is not your thing, you can rejoice in the fact that such innovation is due to increased competition. As Severin Carrell states {The Guardian, 17 June}, when the Edinburgh International Book Festival began “in 1983, there were only four literature festivals in the UK. There are now nearly 400.”

what they do best–eat, sleep, and talk books! *sigh*
