So it does not take much of a leap to understand her disdain toward the Prince Regent (whom would become King George IV).

He did not feel the same for Austen, however. As a matter of fact, he kept a set of her novels at each of his residences. At one point he even suggested she write a historical romance. Her reply? “I could not sit down to write a serious romance under any other motive than to save my life.”
