Previously unpublished letters of Mary Shelley found; they will now be published. Naturally.

Did you hear about the Greek Orthodox priest in Lebanon whose library was torchedTwo-thirds of some 80,000 books and manuscripts housed there were destroyed (Gulf News). Of all the bookish news I read this week, this one stayed with me. It’s just so very sad, on so many levels . . .

Thankfully, not all the news was bad . . .

Crook, a professor emerita at Anglia Ruskin University, has stumbled upon a treasure trove of unpublished letters of Mary Shelley.

The American Dialect Society has named ‘Because’ the word of 2013. And I must be getting old, because the latest use of the word? I knew not.

I don’t know about you, but it was a crazy busy week for me. At the start of the week, I saw a link about a little boy ‘book critic.’ I simply jotted down the tittle, thinking I would get back to it . . . now I can’t find it. Sigh. So, there was that.
